On June 14, we will host the 2017 Lean Construction Summit in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the ninth installment of this event, which CURT is hosting jointly with the Lean Construction Institute, Construction Industry Institute, and the Associated General Contractors of America. In April 2004, CURT's First Lean Project Delivery workshop was held looking out to the future in helping lead the industry through new creative changes in project delivery.

This year we will be focusing on "Lean Design and Construction:  What's beyond the horizon?"

The summit will kick off with several case studies describing current leading-edge practices with mega prefabrication and modularization. We will then examine recent safety research studies addressing the occurrence of low frequency, high impact events and the countermeasures that we, as an industry, need to embrace to help mitigate those risks. The summit will next examine recent research from the University of Minnesota which helps crystallize what leads projects to succeed and how the way the project delivery process is shaped contributes to project success.

Next, the summit will turn to several industry-leading organizations that are using BIM and computational design to explore radical reinvention of facility planning, design and construction, including the concept of "factory in a box." Stephen Mulva, with CII, will then offer a vision of the future: "Operating System 2.0."

We will conclude the session with a look towards the future with a discussion of "What's next: Beyond the Horizon in Project Delivery."
