Event Description:

This VIRTUAL event is held concurrently with the Lean Summit.

CURT’s Safety & Wellness Committee will be hosting its annual Safety Summit May 6, 2020, in a virtual format! This Summit is focused on applying Human and Organization Performance to improve safety management. Additional topics include the latest OSHA impacts and why suicide prevention is a construction leadership issue.

We will look at the systematic and systemic approach to improving productivity, competencies, and safety through a process that is grounded in scientific theories and focused on achievements that are valued by individuals and the organization. Human Performance begins with the assumption that error is inevitable and that error is a symptom of problems within organizational systems. This approach proposes using leading indicators, minimizing negative consequences and other strategies that drive under-reporting of incidents and near misses.

Case studies regarding mindfulness in construction, as well as leading and lagging indicators that can be applied within your organization to measure safety success, will be reviewed. Attendees will also learn about the latest case law regarding cannabis and the workplace.
