2020 Safety Summit
Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter
May 06th @ 7:00 AM - May 06th @ 4:30 PM
CURT’s Safety and Wellness Committee will be hosting its annual Safety Summit May 6, 2020, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The theme of the event is, “Human and Organizational Performance: Shifting Perspectives on Safety Management,” and speakers will be focused on connecting the latest research in safety with real, practical solutions to improve safety performance.
If you’re new to Human and Organizational Performance, this is the perfect opportunity to learn what it is and how you can apply these approaches in your organization to continuously improve safety management. Human and Organizational Performance can be characterized as a systematic and systemic approach to improving productivity, competencies, and safety. It is grounded in scientific theories and is focused on achievements that are valued by the individuals and the organization. Human performance starts with the assumption that error is inevitable and that error is a symptom of problems within organizational systems. This approach proposes using leading indicators, minimizing negative consequences and other strategies that drive underreporting of incidents and near misses.
The day will introduce and focus on the basic concepts of Human and Organizational Performance, including case studies regarding mindfulness in construction and leading and lagging indicators that can be applied within your organization to measure safety success. Attendees will also learn about the latest case law concerning cannabis and the workplace.
